Smithwicks is a damn tasty ale. It’s brewed by Guinness, and it used to be available in the US only at Irish pubs. Now you can get it anywhere. I saw a six pack at Whole Foods on Sunday, and went “yoink.” I’m enjoying one right now. Next time you’re at a pub, check to see if they have Smithwicks on tap. I highly recommend it. Pronounce it “Smithick’s” though, without the “w.” Or, if you want to be even Irisher, “Smiddicks.”

man, did i hate sinking in 2 1/2 ft. every 5 steps. Snow shoes are definitely necessary til you get to the lake of the clouds (shown, above treeline) but after that some crampons and an axe does wonders. We got caught up in another venture of not being able to see 15 ft. in front of us, but you can read all about it from Chris.
